WELCOME TO KIDS KORPS | Rancho Santa Fe Chapter

Hi my name is Dana Knees and I am thrilled  to be taking over the position of Chapter Advisor for the RSF chapter of Kids Korps.  Diana Burdick has served us well for the past five years and we appreciate everything she has done to make our chapter the leader of this national organization.  She leaves as Chapter Advisor but will remain actively involved!  Thank you Diane.

For me personally  I joined this organization along with my husband Bill and my two boys (now 2nd and 6th grade)  as a way of leading our kids by example. The organization offers us a structure and discipline for Acting Now instead of postponing the needs of our community.   I don’t think that  you will find anything as fulfilling as helping to bring love and assistance to those in need.  You have so many opportunities to work in areas where you are passionate,  from honoring our military and seniors, providing supplies and entertainment to the needy, and to aiding animal and environmental causes, we have had hands on experiences.   Nothing is mandatory but the joy and empowerment of making a difference is addictive!

The commitment is easy.  There is always some way to serve at a time that is right for you! We have very few meeings, only  Quarterly Meetings where we preview and prepare for the next three month’s of activities. We have both Chapter Exclusive projects and group reserved spaces for Regional Projects every month. If that doesn’t fit your schedule, you can always check the Regional website at www.kidskorps.org for projects everyday, seven days a week!

To see our current RSF Chapter Quarterly agenda, please see (“forms” pulldown) for a look at the exciting service projects we havin in store for this fall.  You may contact the designated project leaders with any questions or suggestions. There will be an overview and perhaps preparation for these projects at our “quarterly” chapter meetings to be held Kick Off  Oct. 5, 2009,  Jan 4, April 5, July 5, Oct 4. at the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center  from 3:15-4:30pm

For a peek at our RSF Chapter Annual Agenda, please see our “2009-2010 Projects” schedule under “Forms.”

Don’t forget to check the Regional Project listings provided throughout the year at www.kidskorps.org under “projects” (yes, even in summer!) Regional Registration forms are available at this website and are mandatory for participation in all Kids Korps activities because this provides our insurance and tracks your hours. This is in addition to our Chapter Registration form.

If you have not registered yet, know that here are two registrations required. The first is on-line with our Regional Membership at www.kidskorps.org . This registration provides for our insurance and hours tracking. It is $28per child or $56 per family. The second registration is with our local Rancho Santa Fe Chapter and is listed under the “forms” pulldown. Print it, fill it out, and mail it to the address at the bottom of the form with your check for $25per family. Register everyone and bring the family for a great day of team building.

I am happy to answer any questions that you may have at knees1@cox.net.

Dana Knees
